Ice fishing flasher question?
I found this old Lowrance fish lo-k-tor lfp-300 in my garage and is missing the transducer. I’ve been looking for days on how to get one. I’ve searched all over Google, Amazon, and Ebay but no luck. I even looked on the Lowrance website but didn’t find anything. I even looked on craigslist but still didn’t find any. Please Help!
When I first moved to MN, I found (and purchased) one of those old Lowrance Flashers at a garage sale for $12. It seemed to be working correctly, so I took it Ice fishing. It didn’t work so well- all it would “flash” was the depth.
It never showed fish. Target separation and sensitivity was poor.
I investigated getting a new transducer thinking that would help, (like you) and found a guy with a whole unit, (apparently in pristine condition) for $100.
I thought, “For $120 I can purchase a portable LCD Humminbird unit!”
And that’s what I did. Unfortunately, I found LCD’s don’t work so well for Ice-fishing- they don’t “update” fast enough.
So, the following Ice-fishing season I broke down and purchased a Vexilar Fl-8 and never looked back.
What’s the point of this story? Even if you found a transducer for that unit, you would probably not be happy with it. From the 70′s to now, the technology on flashers is light-years beyond the Lo-K-Tor. Don’t waste your time. Save your money and get a newer flasher. Even a used Fl-8 or Polar Vision would be better….
Of course, this is just my opinion.
