what is your “absolutelynecessary” list for backpack travel?
I plan to travel in a few years and noticed how expensive everything is and how limited a backpack is. What do I absolutely need to take with me and what can I avoid. Oh my kids who eill be 10 and 5 are coming too.
it depends on where you are going really. if you are heading somewhere warm you will not have to take layers of clothes, but if you are going somewhere cold you will.
I think the esentials are a communication device (satelite phone) money (plastic or paper), id document (passport of over seas, licence if not) torch (the little maglite ones are great). comfy shoes. personal toiletries (dont take the hair straightener or stuff like that, just the needed. you can pick up soap and deoderant every where so there is no pressing need to pack that, although do take a tooth brush) underwear, take a few pairs as it may be a few days between washes and you dont want to double up.
just think about where you will be going and where you will be staying and what will be available there. and also how long you are going for. it will all come into place, theres no point in taking stuff if you can get it there as you will just have to carry it.
