how much corn, sugar n water do you iuse for a 5 gal bucket ? how do u know its done fermenting?
can you use a any type of yeast for your mash? how long does it usually take to fermentt? if you cook at a temp over the required 173 F will it change the content of the moonshine?
The basic 5 gallon batch is going to need 5 gallons of water, 7 lbs cracked corn, 7 lbs sugar And 1 tsp of yeast. As for your yeast, you are going to need to need distillers yeast. Fermentation usually takes 3-5 days and you will when it’s done by the finished gravity on a hydrometer. There are some ill effects to raising the temperature above 173 F, such as unwanted tannins.
